Most doctors will only attempt to treat you for manic-depressive illness when they know what triggers set your episodes off. Since these triggers differ one from the other in different patients, it is often a meticulous process to find them out because you are yourself likely unaware of them. You are going to have to be patient, patient.

The mood swings that you experience when you suffer from bipolar affective disorder do not just come out of the blue, contrary to what you may think. These feelings come from certain triggers that are in the environment around you, or actually in your mind. You are going to have to identify them; otherwise the disease will win each time every time.

Certain words in conversation may trigger an episode of depression in a bipolar disorder patient. They may not even be aware of what is happening, but you who are having a talk with them ought to notice the differences. You are going to have to find ways to help them when that happens, or you will both pay for it.

The frequency with which a bipolar disorder patient comes across a trigger for the different phases of the disease often determines how badly they suffer from the condition. If the triggers are constant in their minds or their environment, they may have trouble ever living a normal life at all. That puts the onus on you, their friend, to do what you must to help them.

Bipolar disorder triggers can vary from one sufferer of the disease to the other, but they are often though not always related to experiences that they have had. For the most part, when you have something in your past that has ever caused you deep sadness, anytime your mind wonders to it, it could trigger a depressive episode of your bipolar disorder.

I really don’t know another bipolar disorder trigger that is as potent as stress. The phenomenon does not even have a favorite end to what it does to the sufferer. It could head you off into a depressive state, or one of mania, and it would not matter which. When you find that your stress levels are climbing, you may want to do something to relieve them.

Many people whom are depressive for any reason end up drinking a whole lot. As a result, it is not long before their minds or their subconscious begin to make the connection. As a consequence, when they drink too much alcohol, it could trigger off a phase of depression in them, which is that much worse when they suffer from bipolar disorder.

Bipolar disorder is not a disease that you want to live with, either as a patient or as a loved one of the person suffering from the syndrome. You will do well to be able to identify the signs and symptoms, which indicate that someone is suffering from bipolar disorder so that the appropriate help can be sought and gotten in good time.

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness in which your mood gets to interchange between extreme craze and gloominess, stating it mildly. Bipolar disorder is also called the manic-depressive illness or that fine madness, and for good cause too. Depending on the type of bipolar disorder that you suffer from, you may experience equal bouts of mania and depression over a ten-year period – about four times – or the entire cycle might burn itself out within a single year.

Some forms of bipolar disorder can have you switching between frenzy and demoralization several times within a single week. This is often the severe type of the syndrome that is known as rapid-cycling bipolar disorder.

When your friend or loved one suffers from bipolar disorder, they will look to you like they have two very different and extreme personalities – or temperaments, to be more exact – within their single frame. They are the same person that you know, but there are times when they seem all excited and unreasonable, and there are times when you can’t seem to get them off of their butt because they just cannot stop getting down on themselves. These are classic symptoms of bipolar disorder.

When manic, people with bipolar disorder feel intensely elated, self-important, energetic, and irritable. When depressed, they experience painful sadness, negative thinking, and indifference to things that used to bring them happiness. These symptoms of bipolar disorder even seem simple enough until you add the fact that their manic episodes include rapid-fire speech, impatience, racing thoughts, inappropriate sexual advances, self-destructive behavior, and the formulation of grandiose plans involving indiscriminate investments of money. Not a pretty sight, I tell you.

When depressive, you will see such signs as loss or increase of appetite and sleep, hallucinations, false beliefs, pessimism, sense of worthlessness and vulnerability, excessive tiredness, and thoughts of committing suicide.

I once noticed a friend like that, but at the time, I did not even know of the set of symptoms that were classified as bipolar disorder. I lost that friend to the disease, and I have been more careful ever since. You cannot be too carefree or careless with the chance that you or someone close to you may have bipolar disorder. You have to get diagnosed the very first day that you notice the first few signs and symptoms of the condition so that you can get the best treatments available for the disease.

I’d hate to see a person that was wrongfully diagnosed for bipolar disorder, or someone with the affective condition that was wrongfully diagnosed with something else.

You may not fully grasp what my fear is like, but picture having acne and being treated for herpes. I don’t much think it is something you will feel like laughing about. There are many types of depression, and they all manifest themselves in different ways. Sure it is a state of unhappiness that is often accompanied by hopelessness, but it is also a whole lot worse.

Depression is also a psychiatric condition that gives off symptoms such as persistence of that hopelessness, accompanied by dejection, poor concentration, lack of energy, inability to sleep, and sometimes, suicidal tendencies. Now there are types of depression such as clinical depression, bipolar disorder, major depression, seasonal affective disorder, and dysthymia; and they very easily can be mistaken one for the other by an unseasoned psychiatrist if they aren’t careful enough.

Bipolar disorder is also called the manic-depressive illness because it can have you either manic or depressed at any specific time. The manic phase of bipolar disorder is characterized by psychotic symptoms such as intense elation and inappropriate happiness, excessive energy, and self-importance. You get racing thoughts and talk in rapid-fire verbal communications, and you get these horrible delusions of grandeur. These symptoms tend to make you irritable and impatient with other people.

When you are depressive in bipolar disorder, the symptoms are hardly any different from those of regular depression. You get the same painful sadness, the negative thinking, and the indifference to things that used to make you happy. And yes, you get the suicidal feelings too. Work, activities and people tend to turn you off; you lose sleep and appetite; you get worthlessness, helplessness and pessimism as added feelings; and then may come the delusions and false sensory perceptions that look like genuine psychosis.

You see, if you treated a bipolar disorder patient only for the manic symptoms, you could set of a very severe depressive episode; and if you treated only for the depression, you could trigger some major mania that may not be very easy to come out of. Worse than either of these situations, you could cause a rapid-cycling manic-depression that could permanently fracture the mind of the patient.

Yep, all of these forms of depression have a lot in common and they are closely related. They all leave you dejected and with suicidal tendencies, to mention but a few. You don’t want to be too rash with the diagnosis so that you don’t end up catching the wrong condition. You want to take your time observing so that if it is bipolar disorder, it can be properly diagnosed, and the patient who is suffering from it can be accorded the best bipolar disorder treatment you can get your hands on.

I looked up mania in the dictionary and I didn’t like what I saw. You can look it up too when you have the chance – it’s right after madness and just before stupidity.

It is easy to read about bipolar disorder and learn how it is called the manic-depressive illness that levers you between phases of mania and depression at all kinds of indeterminate intervals. Sometimes you get the chance to function normally in between; sometimes you don’t. However, I don’t know if you have ever actually met someone in that condition before – someone who was actually being manic or depressive at a time when you were speaking with them. It is not a pleasant experience, I tell you. I’d like us to look at the mania for a moment.

Mania is obsession, and excessive and intense interest in someone or something, some kind of enthusiasm. But that is putting it mildly. Mania in the psychotic form is actually a psychiatric disorder characterized by excessive physical activity, rapidly changing ideas, and impulsive behavior. I’ll help you understand: when you are manic, you are excited and enthusiastic, but you are never able to touch down on any one interest for any reasonable length of time.

Let’s take a look at mania, shall we? Mania is an abnormal mental state that is characterized by an elevated irritable mood that is touched by self-importance, racing thoughts and hyperactivity. Did I mention a feeling of intoxication with you and with life? Or, are you manipulating people, spending money indiscriminately and pursuing sexual adventure to almost no end? And that is only the tip of the iceberg.

When you are manic, you are impatient and hostile towards others because they just can’t seem to ’see’ what you are talking about, and they never can. As a result, you could end up frustrated with them and start to hurt even those that you care about, physically hurting your children or spouse. When you are manic you have an inflated ego and sense of self-esteem that often comes with delusions of grandeur, and a self-confidence that causes you to believe you have more wit, courage, imagination, and artistry than everyone else.

I’m only just getting started here, but I’m pretty certain that you are getting the picture here. When you are manic, you aren’t yourself, and you aren’t a good person to be around. You are energized with racing thoughts that are never on the same topic for long enough, so that you sleep that much less. Alcohol and drug abuse is common, with other kinds of self-destructive behavior like obnoxious and combative behavior.

Hold! Here’s the worst part. You are like this only half of the time. The other half you are depressed enough to want to kill yourself. It does not take a whole lot of thinking to know why they call bipolar disorder the fine madness. It’s because you really are mad when you are suffering from such a disease; and like regular madness, you really don’t know that you are mad. That is what is so sad about the manic-depressive illness.

Psychosis is never too far away from you when you are suffering from bipolar disorder. You will do well to be on the lookout for such symptoms that come about when you are in the severe depressive phase of your manic-depressive illness. Soon enough, you own delusions can take you over completely, but just long enough for the mania to see in.

You may experience symptoms of all kinds of false beliefs or hallucinations when you are suffering from bipolar disorder. Certain false sensory perceptions seem so real to you and the real people around you tend to fade into the woodwork. Such things happen often in the disease, whether you are manic or depressive.

Phobia and obsessions are about two of the most common symptoms of the depressive state of bipolar disorder. In the manic phase of the conditions, you may instead feel powerfully yet incongruously happy. You may not notice this though, but the person next to you should notice it enough to try and get you so see a doctor in a hurry.

The problem with bipolar disorder is that many of the symptoms do not give you a lot of time or space for self-analysis in the right sense. Instead you may catch yourself beating down upon yourself, or on the other hand feeling self-important in an unreasonable way. That is why you are better off with a good friend around you who knows what to do when that happens.

There is nothing strange about being irritable when you are suffering from bipolar disorder. As a matter of fact, it happens often when you are suffering in the manic phase of the condition such that you have trouble being around people. Actually, people will have trouble being around you because of your ill temper.

Whether you are suffering from obsession and unreasonable enthusiasm in the manic phase of bipolar disorder, or you are suffering melancholy and dejection in the depressive state of it, you are not likely to get a lot of sleep. In the first instance, you are too excited, and in the latter, you are too worried… unreasonably.

The manic chapters of a manic-depressed individual leave you highly energized basically all of the time. Saying that you will sleep less is an overstatement, a phenomenon that will result from the racing thoughts you are having all of the time. You may not know how to seek help then, but your loved ones had better, when they observe these symptoms.

If you have been told once, you have been told a million times: bipolar disorder is one serious medical condition that you don’t want to trifle with. Do not get the wrong impression; it can be treated, and rather well too. But the hard part is adequately diagnosing it. That is why specialists are often very careful when it comes to that.

There are mental illnesses and there are mental illnesses. And then, there are mental illnesses like bipolar disorder in a whole different class of their own. I mean, when you have a disease that combines perhaps every other disease on the disease spectrum, you have got to show some respect. Bipolar disorder is that kind of disease.

Bipolar disorder is not called manic-depressive illness for nothing. The reason why is that it takes you on a roller coaster ride through a realm of mania for what is usually a long while, to the far opposing pole of depression, usually for a long while too. And if you complete the journey and you are still alive, it takes you all over again. Not very pleasant I must add.

With the right treatment you can certainly take care of your bipolar disorder. As a matter of fact, there are several Americans in and around where you live who must have the disease, and you don’t have a clue of it. That is how I know you can get the help you need to. It is time to stop running already.

Even with bipolar disorder you can lead a very fulfilling life. Sincerely speaking, it is not even a hard thing to achieve, but it is an involving one. Take the fact that certain of its treatments have profound and unpleasant side effects, for instance. It may make living with the condition difficult, but certainly not impossible.

When you have a disease like bipolar disorder, you must understand that curing it will be a big deal. In simple terms, there really isn’t a known cure for the syndrome as yet, but there are several treatments and medications you can take that can help you live relatively comfortably with the disease. You may want to learn about and try them out.

You are best treated for bipolar disorder by a reputable psychiatrist who knows what they are doing. And if you have trouble finding a good psychiatrist in your region, you can settle for a reputable psychologist as well. Certainly by the time you have run through your long list of shrinks you have to have found one to help.

This is often the severe type of

Women suffer the most from the type of depression known as bipolar depression disorder. This is not so strange or farfetched in any case, because even when women suffer from regular bipolar depression disorder, they often spend more time depressed than they do being manic.

Bipolar disorder is also known as manic depression because it is a mental condition in which you interchange often between phases of mania and depression. When you suffer from bipolar depression disorder on the other hand, you don’t spend as much time being manic as you spend being depressed.

Bipolar depression disorder, you must understand is easy to misdiagnose as bipolar disorder because of the similarity of their symptoms. As a result, the doctor may have to keep you around for lengthy periods when they are trying to diagnose you condition. It certainly will not be flattering to either of you if you got treated for the wrong thing.

Bipolar affective disorder is just another name for bipolar disorder or manic-depressive illness. However, you don’t want to mistake it for bipolar depression disorder. This is closely related, with all the symptoms of the depressive phase of bipolar disorder, but very few, if any at all, of the mania.

Bipolar disorder is unfortunately a mental disease that tends to begin in childhood and gradually gets worse as you grow older. The problem with this is that you may miss its diagnosis at that tender age because you cannot be too sure of exactly what it is. As such, it gets the chance to actually get much worse.

There are more children diagnosed with bipolar disorder these days than ever before. Perhaps it has something to do with changes in society, or it may be that the diagnostic processes are constantly getting better. Either way, it means that treatment methods for kids will have to be stepped up a lot.

There are all kinds of mental illnesses, and there are actually some of them that are manifestations of other mental illnesses. One of the most difficult to diagnose is bipolar disorder, because it often takes so long to complete its cycles. When this disease is suspected, the specialist usually takes a lot more time.

Diagnosing a disease like bipolar disorder can be a rather lengthy process most times. When you are in mania, the phase may last weeks or even months, and it could repeat itself for depression too. This makes it hard for the psychiatrist treating you to determine if it is one or the other that you suffer from… or both.

If they have it in adulthood, they must have had it since they were born. Bipolar disorder is a condition that sits in your genes by reason of inheritance from your parent or parents, and that often is set off by the experiences that you go through in life. You might have experienced some kind of trauma when growing up, either physical or psychological, or you may just have allowed yourself to think too deeply.

When bipolar disorder finally shows itself, it usually happens in teenage or adolescence – sometimes in your early twenties. Even then, if you are not careful you could miss its diagnosis entirely, mistaking it for a personality trait, or any of the other types of depression that there are. It could be years later before someone is sensitive enough to have you go in for a test or diagnosis.

In simple terms, you don’t want to be ignorant of the symptoms of bipolar disorder so that when you find that you are experiencing strange phenomena in your daily living, or if you suddenly ran into an adult around you who seems to be acting strange, you’d know what to think and what to do.

Bipolar disorder is also called the manic-depressive illness because it has two phases – one of mania and one of depression. It occurs about equally in both men and women although with a slight variation. Often when it is a male patient in question, their suffering begins with a touch of mania in which they act all obnoxious and overconfident and become very hard to be around because they are irritable. Women tend to start up with the depression – most likely because of their hormones. But after the start, they tend to alternate between both phases over a long time.

The depression in bipolar disorder is not necessarily the mild type, especially adults. It may appear like a clinical form of the disorder such as dysthymia or seasonal affective disorder; or it could appear more severely as a form of major depression. When you are depressed in bipolar disorder, you tend to experience painful sadness, negative thinking, and indifference to things that used to bring you happiness.

You feel woebegone but cannot bring yourself to d

Bipolar disorder is psychological infirmity in which your mood alternates between extreme mania or obsession, and depression or hopelessness. Make no bones about it, bipolar disorder is a disease that does not take prisoners because there are times when it does kill – about ten to fifteen percent of all bipolar disorder incidences have resulted in suicides over time.

Basically, over a ten-year period while you suffer from bipolar disorder, you tend to have about four complete cycles between mania and depression. However, some forms of the disorder can have you running through both extreme emotional poles of the condition within a single year. As a matter of fact, rapid cycling bipolar disorder can take you there and back again within a single week.

Because of its symptoms, bipolar disorder is also called manic-depressive illness. It often begins when you are in your late teens or early twenties, but it has been known to start up earlier in a few rare cases.

A type of bipolar disorder can take you through severe depression in which you experience painful sadness, negative thinking, and indifference to things that used to bring you happiness. When manic, people with bipolar disorder often feel intensely elated, self-important, energetic, and irritable. However, in this form of bipolar disorder, specifically called bipolar disorder II, your mania tends to not be as serious, often referred to as hypomania. You feel the elation, the energy, self-importance and irritation, but they are not as self-destructive as it they normally would be for bipolar disorder I.

It is not often that you find this condition in children, but it is not impossible either. You should particularly be watchful of your child if you suffer from bipolar disorder yourself, or any other type of depression for that matter. It has been proven by research that children are genetically linked to their parents in more ways than just looks. When a parent has suffered from depression of any kind before, the child is automatically susceptible due to genetics.

This was proven by experiments carried out on identical and fraternal twins. Upward of 75 percent of the time, when one identical twin had symptoms of the condition, the other twin has it too – they share the same DNA, you know. When it came to fraternal twins, the phenomenon was observed only in 10 percent of the test subjects – they share only half their DNA, once and for all proving the genetic link.

When you know that your child is predisposed to bipolar disorder, you want to be careful about their childhood experiences. There is no way to keep them from having bitter experiences, but you can help to see that they learn to manage it earlier on. That way, as they grow up, they will be better able to handle it. If you must use medication, use something in the range of lithium carbonate, but under professional supervision. It does have some side effects that you would not want your child to suffer unduly.

Personally, I favor the anger and stress management route. The Good Book after all says that you need to ‘train up a child the way he should go; when he is old he shall not depart from it.’
